Gergely Temesi, Managing Director

Gergely Temesi was among the founders of the joint bioinformatics research project of the a Semmelweis University and Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He held several positions and led projects at several information technology companies, his main area of expertise is business intelligence and information integration solutions. Until 2009 he was the leading technical sales specialist at IBM Hungary, Software Group, Information Management brand.

Csaba Szalai, Lifesciences, Research Director
Biologist engineer, PhD, DSc, dr. habil

Csaba Szalai is one of the founders of the joint bioinformatics research project of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and Semmelweis University, he is now the research director of life sciences. He is a scientific advisor in the Inflammation biology and Immunogenomic research group of Semmelweis University and Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Csaba is the head of the clinical genomic research group in the Department of Genetic, Cell and Immunobiology in Semmelweis University, the molecular biology laboratory in Heim Pál Hospital and Csertex Research Laboratory.

In 1989 he received university doctor title in the Technical University of Budapest; he received PhD title in the Semmelweis University in 1999 and DSc title in the Hungarian Academy of Science in 2005. He earned habilitation in 2007 in the Semmelweis University. He has created and taught the subject Genomics in the Semmelweis University for medical and pharmacological students. He teaches the same subject at the Eötvös Lóránt University as Medical genomics for biology students. Up to now, he has published 110 scientific papers, 9 book chapters and 42 articles of popular sciences. He received 8 awards for scientific achievement in his research of the genetic background of different diseases and he has earned Bolyai grant twice. Now he is the head of a research group of 10 researchers, whose main topics are the genomic background of asthma, and pharmacogenomics of acute lymphoid leukemia.

Péter Antal, Bioinformatics, Research Director
Informatics Engineer, PhD

Péter Antal received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science (Informatics Engineer) in 1995 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Technical University of Budapest. He was an international scholar and Ph.D. student in 1998-2002 at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. Between 2002-2006 he was a research assistant, since 2007 he is an assistant professor at Department of Measurement and Information Systems, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Budapest University of Technology and Economics. From 2008 he is a postdoctoral researcher at OTKA (Hungarian Scientific Research Fund).

He recieved State Scholarship of the Hungarian Republic in 1993/1994 and 1994/1995, the János Bolyai Research Scholarship of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2008, and the Pro Progressio award in 2008 at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

His research interests include artificial intelligence, statistics and bioinformatics, specifically knowledge and computationally intensive Bayesian statistical methods using Bayesian networks.

He is the author of more than 40 papers in international periodicals and conferences. He is a founding member and the committee member of the Hungarian Society for Bioinformatics.

He is one of the founders of the joint bioinformatics research project of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and Semmelweis University, currently he is the research director of bioinformatics.
